Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir presents a look of a big jail since New Delhi abrogated Article 370 of the constitution to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and divide the territory into two union territories- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh- on August 5, last year.
A report released by the Kashmir Media Service on the eve of the first anniversary of the siege imposed by fascist Indian government in the territory said, “The Modi regime suspended mobile, television, landline and internet services and imposed curfew in the main cities and towns of Jammu and Kashmir to keep the world in dark about its terrible future plans in the territory.” The report maintained that strict restrictions were imposed on the media. Local newspapers even failed to update their online editions. “Majority of the newspapers also could not be printed for months due to curfew and other restrictions. No reports of the territory could reach to the news outlets in India and the world. The IOJK virtually remained cut off from the rest of the world,” the report added.
As part of its plan to carry out genocide of the Kashmiris to achieve the purpose of demographic apartheid, the report said, New Delhi appointed Indian Administrative Service officer, Girish Chandra Murmu, as the first Lieutenant-Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Murmu was Principal Secretary to Narendra Modi when the mass killing of Muslims was carried out in Gujarat in 2002 during his tenure as chief minister. “Several federal laws and new domicile rules were introduced to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to further the RSS-backed Delhi government’s agenda in Kashmir,” the report mentioned.
It is widely believed that in gross violations of the UN resolutions and the international law, India has granted domicile status to thousands of non-Kashmiri Hindus including some Indian Air Force officers. “Apprehensions are ripe that more than 800,000 Indian soldiers and over 600,000 migrant labourers present in the territory might also be granted the domicile status in the coming day.”
The report also mentioned India’s new construction policy aimed at rendering any areas in IIOJ&K as “strategic areas” where the Indian armed forces grab land in the name of carrying out unhindered constructions and other related activities. BJP regime, as part of anti-Muslim policies, is also replacing the Muslim names of important places and departments with Hindu names. The birth anniversary of former Chief Minister, Sheikh Abdullah, and Kashmir Martyrs’ Day on July 13 have been dropped from the list of public holidays. The Modi regime has initiated the process of delimitation of Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in IIOJK with an aim to give more seats to Hindu-dominated areas of Jammu region. At the same time it has flouted a new political front of its collaborators led by Altaf Bukhari in the name of Jammu Kashmir Apni Party, the report concluded.
