Sindh government will distribute ration among the poor, who have been facing difficulties due to the lockdown imposed amid COVID-19 from today.
A sum of Rs20 million will be released in every district of Sindh for ration. The ration distribution among the poor people will be released with the help of assistant commissioners of the respective districts.
The decision was earlier held in a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh earlier on Thursday confirmed the news by saying that the government would provide ration at the doorsteps of the poor people.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah established the Sindh Relief Initiative Application with a URL address under which social welfare organisations interested in working with his government would have to get registered to distribute ration among daily wagers.
The Sindh Relief Initiative is aimed at providing ration to daily wagers and needy people at their doorstep while having a joint working group without duplication,” he said, adding that daily wagers would also have to get registered through the application.
Coronavirus has claimed another life in Sindh, taking the provincial death toll to 11 and 35 nationwide. Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has reached 2,441.
