Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar called on President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Sarwar also inaugurated Corona Telemedicine Helpline Call Centre at the PIMS. While talking to the media, Sarwar said that number of telemedicine centres in Punjab and Azad Kashmir had crossed 32 and steps are being taken for setting up more centres as well. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Rs 1000 billion economic package is clear proof of the fact that government is putting in order comprehensive measures for welfare of the nation and development of the country.
According to a communiqué issued by Governor House Lahore on Wednesday, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar called on President Dr. Arif Alvi at Presidency and Prime Minister Imran Khan at Prime Minister House, and briefed them about Governor Punjab Telemedicine Helpline Call Centre as well as telemedicine centres established in medical universities and various cities of Punjab including Lahore. He also apprised them about the facilities being provided to people at these centres; care of corona-infected people; provision of free ration to their families and other measures taken in this regard. Later, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar along with PTI Senator Dr. Waseem inaugurated Anti-Corona Telemedicine Centre at PIMS Hospital Islamabad.
Talking to media on this occasion, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that people from abroad also contacting telemedicine centres in Punjab and Azad Kashmir through telephone calls and taking guidance/advisory regarding prevention from corona pandemic. He said Governor Punjab Telemedicine Helpline Call Centre has received more than 20,000 phone calls from all over Pakistan during last 24 hours, and more than 2,000 doctors are performing duties in all the telemedicine centres, and number of doctors registered for serving at these centre is over 3,500. No doubt, coronavirus can be defeated only by adopting precautionary measures therefore all must follow safety measures against this deadly virus.
Sarwar said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the government is fully alert to the corona hazards and monitoring the situation minutely and taking decisions/measures accordingly to protect the countrymen from this dreadful disease. Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that Rs 1,000 billion economic package announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan for exports and other sectors of economy and specially for the poor and daily wage earners, would definitely help mitigate the people’s problems in this time of trial.
