The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have decided to continue its support to eradicate polio from Pakistan, with $1.08 billion will be provided as a fund. Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr. Zafar Mirza met with Bill Gates in Abu Dhabi and discussed polio eradication program.
During the meeting, the special assistant informed Bill Gates about efforts towards polio eradication and vaccinations. He said that the government has prepared a coordinated and comprehensive plan to make Pakistan polio free. Bill Gates said that his foundation will continue their support to make Pakistan polio free.
Dr. Zafar Mirza said world institutions will provide 2.6 billion dollars including 1.08 billion dollars by Bill Gates Foundation for polio eradication in the country. He further said the government will allocate 150 million dollars for the anti-polio program.
The special assistant appreciated Gates Foundation efforts towards polio eradication.
Earlier, Bill Gates telephoned PM Imran Khan and congratulated him on winning the elections and assuming the office.
