An official of the Punjab Police’s Elite Force was martyred in a clash with members of notorious Ladi Gang, which operates within the limits of Kot Mubarak police station. Two dacoits were killed in the counter attack while a passer-by, who was injured in the crossfire, succumbed to his wounds later. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Imran Ahmer told that suspects opened indiscriminate firing on the police team when they were followed on a tip-off. Suleman, an officer of the Elite Force, died on the spot while Constable Imran sustained bullet wounds, he said, adding that two “absconders” were killed in the counter strike and a passer-by also injured in the process. DPO Asad Sarfraz arrived at the spot with a heavy contingent of police as the encounter continued for several hours. Injured and the body were shifted to a local teaching hospital. The police had conducted a number of operations in the area earlier but failed to arrest members of Ladi Gang.
