Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Wednesday that the opposition’s all parties conference (APC) was for protecting corruption money.
In a statement, the Punjab CM said that the APC was motivated by personal interests. “The opposition has no other agenda than to protect corruption money. Prioritising personal interests over national interests is like a cruel joke to the people,” he said.
“The leaders of opposition parties have no concern with the problems of the people. Those who have ruined the journey of public development are holding APC today but people are fully aware that these parties have had devastated the economy in the past.”
“The rejected elements are unnerved over the development of the country towards the right direction. The collusion of the opposition parties is meant for hiding their corruption and it has nothing to do with the welfare of the people. The opposition parties have already faced defeat and their APC will also be failed today,” he added.
Separately, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar held a detailed meeting with the MPAs of Lahore division in the committee room of Punjab Assembly on Wednesday.
The assembly members apprised the chief minister about the problems and public welfare schemes of their areas. Instructions were issued by the chief minister for the solution of problems faced by the people. On the demand of the assembly members, the chief minister directed officials to investigate the release of billions of rupees and their expenditures for the constituencies situated in Lahore during the previous tenure. “Resources are a sacred trust of the people and their personal utilization is dishonesty. We are a custodian of every government penny and impartial inquiry will be held about the release and utilization of funds amounting to billions of rupees for constituencies before elections during the previous tenure,” he added.
“No one will be allowed to loot the national resources and public money will only be spent on the welfare of the people. Every possible step will be adopted for providing relief to the general public. Undue increase in the prices of essential items will not be tolerated and the administration should initiate action against the elements responsible for creating artificial price-hike. The administration should also proactively perform to give relief to the people,” he added.
The chief minister said that the issue of clean drinking water would be resolved in Lahore division and the situation of cleanliness as well as sewerage system would also be improved. He said that honest officers would be fully encouraged in the field. He directed officers to restart the LTC buses from Lahore to Muridke and Narang Mandi routes. The officials should restore the routes by taking immediate steps, he said.
“We are taking every step to provide relief to the people,” he said, adding that the King Edward Medical University, Lahore (KEMU) campus would be set up in Muridke.
He also announced to restore 257 non-functional water supply schemes in Lahore division and other parts of the province and informed that funds have already been allocated for that purpose. He said that roads situated in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana Sahib would be repaired and Arazi (land) centers would be established in Warburton.
Similarly, Shahkot-Jaranwala Road will be restored on a priority basis.
The chief minister said that Baba Guru Nanak University was being set up in Nankana Sahib. “A trauma center will be set up in Pattoki. The administration has been issued instructions to ensure that the owners provide essential facilities to the people living in private housing schemes because it is their responsibility. Agriculture credit cards will be issued to farmers and the revenue collected by the LDA from Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib will be spent on these districts.”
He said that the scope of Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme would be expanded to other districts.
The chief minister said that opportunities existed in Punjab about the installation of bio-gas plants and added that steps would be taken for the installation of such plants through a public-private partnership mode. He said that the drainage system would be improved in Lahore for the smooth discharge of stagnant water during rainy season.
The proposals submitted by the assembly members will be implemented, he added. The chief minister appreciated the performance of Provincial Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal and his department for stabilizing the prices of essential items during the holy month of Ramazan. Provincial Ministers Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Murad Raas, Asif Nakai, Hashim Dogar, Khalid Mehmood, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Chief Whip in Punjab Assembly Syed Abbas Ali Shah, Chief Secretary, ACS, IG Police, Chairman P&D, SMBR, Commissioner and CCPO of Lahore division, RPO Sheikhupura, DCs and DPOs of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib, besides administrative secretaries, were also present on the occasion.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday paid tribute to the bravery of policemen for failing the terrorist attack on Loralai. He said that police officials foiled the designs of the terrorists and sent the suicide bombers to hell. He also paid tribute to the bravery of martyred constable Allah Nawaz and said that the nation was proud of him.
