Defeating all bright girls from renowned private educational institutions, the girls of Lodhran from various government schools have made their way to the National Scrabble Contest.
The Tareen Education Foundation (TEF) recently helped seven students of four government schools of Lodhran participate at a national level scrabble championship in Lahore. The students participated in two events – the fifth Inter-School Scrabble Championship and Young Masterminds Lahore of 2019, and the Scrabble Open Championship.

Lodhran public schools girls students make their way to the national championship
Sania Shakoor bagged the first position by playing in Category D at Young Masterminds, Lahore, held at the Aitchison College, Lahore, and topped the category – beating 137 students – by scoring 1,159 marks. She was awarded a certificate and trophy recognizing her incredible performance. Sania defeated brightest contestants from various popular schools and colleges, mainly Aitchison College, Lahore Grammar School (LGS), Beaconhouse School, and Pak Turk International School to name a few were schools that participated in this event.
Lodhran Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rao Imtiaz Ahmad distributed shields and certificates – originally issued by the World Time Scrabble Club – among the young talented girls to appreciate their success.
The TEF announced a Rs10,000 prize each for the winners which were distributed by TEF chief executive officer (CEO) Akbar Khan to appreciate the effort of students.
Addressing the participants at the award distribution ceremony, DC Imtiaz said that It was a moment of real pride for students, their parents, and himself. He said he hoped that this hard work would shine the good name of Lodhran. He said that if the girls of government institutions were given equal opportunities, they were second to none.
CEO Akbar Khan said that the aim of the foundation was to give maximum exposure of sports through such events to the students of backward areas. He said such events would also be organized in the future so that the talented girls from backward areas come forward.
These young girls were the pride of Lodhran district, he added.
The parents of children were also present on this occasion. Malik Husnain, father of a contestant, said that it was a moment of pride for him that his daughter was participating in the national level contest. He appreciated the efforts of the TEF to provide better educational and co-curricular opportunities to the poor and needy students.
