Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday – reacting to the appointment of an International Monetary Fund (IMF) economist as governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) – said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had handed over the country to the new East India Company. In her reaction, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the IMF would rule the SBP due to the appointment of Dr Raza Baqar as its governor. She said the prime minister handed over keys of national exchequer to an IMF employee, neglecting senior Pakistani officials, which was a matter of grave concern. Being the SBP Governor, Dr Baqar would serve the IMF and work for its interests instead of Pakistan’s, she added. The PML-N spokesperson further stated that the PTI now did not need to go to the IMF, as it had officially opened the office of the IMF in Pakistan by appointing its economist. “The IMF is now free to do whatever it desires,” she added.
