Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Anwar Mansoor Khan, on Saturday, reassured employees of judicial allowance after they had threatened of a pen-down strike on Monday.
Staffers called off the strike after AGP Khan promised to send a summary on the matter o the prime minister for review. He further maintained that all employees would be granted the allowances as per the rules.
Over 400 AGP employees had announced to observe a pen-down strike over being stripped off judicial allowances. They had argued that the role of the official working staff at the Attorney General’s office was slated under the administrative and judicial category of superior courts. In addition, the job description and working hours of these employees were said to be no different from those working in upper courts. Employees had further argued that the establishment of courts was getting judicial allowance thrice that of the initial substantive payscale. Legal officers including advocate generals were also being given the allowance whereas the staff was said to be deprived of the same.
