US Department of State South Asian Affairs Chief, Alice Wells, is expected in Islamabad, this week, for deliberation over economic and geopolitical issues. A statement issued from her office stated, “In Islamabad, she will meet senior Pakistani government officials to discuss bilateral issues of mutual interest including trade, investment and regional stability.”
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Wells would also travel to New Delhi and Thimphu, Bhutan, from April 21 to 30.
In New Delhi, she is expected to call on senior Indian government officials to discuss US-India cooperation for a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
The statement maintained that she would continue to “advance initiatives agreed upon at the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue last fall.”
