The body of a Pakistani man who embraced martyrdom in Christchurch terrorist attack in New Zealand will reach homeland on Monday (today).
Pakistan’s high commissioner to New Zealand has handed over the body of Areeb Ahmed to an international airline for onward shifting to Karachi. The plane will land at the Jinnah International Airport on Monday.
The funeral prayers of the deceased will be performed in Dastagir No 9 area and buried in Karachi the same day.
Ahmed had recently moved to Christchurch to work as a chartered accountant on secondment at Price Waterhouse Cooper.
On March 17, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Dr Faisal had revealed that nine Pakistanis were martyred in terrorist attacks on two mosques in New Zealand city of Christchurch. The dead included Sohail Shahid, Syed Jahandad Ali, Syed Areeb Ahmed, Mahboob Haroon, Naeem Rashid and his son Talha Naeem, Zeeshan Raza, Ghulam Hussain and Karam.
