A man allegedly killed his wife and later electrocuted her body in Multan on Thursday, the Gulgasht Police said.
According to the police, Mohammad Zahid, aged 25 and a resident of Nawab Pur Road, allegedly strangled her wife Nadia for deceiving him and having an illicit relationship with someone else. The police further said that after killing her wife, Zahid electrocuted the body to show it a natural death due to electrocution.
The police registered the First Information Report (FIR) at the Gulgast Police Station and arrested the suspect. Zahid confessed that he killed his wife because she used to talk to someone on phone and despite many warnings, she did not stop talking, the suspect said according to the police. The suspect told the police that when he came home at night he caught her wife talking to an unknown person on phone and thus he killed her. The police claimed that it was a case of honour killing. The couple married about two years ago and had a daughter aged one year.
The residents of the surrounding areas told the police that Zahid was suspicious and used to inflict violence on her wife on daily basis. Since the last one year, the couple developed differences due to which Nadia wanted divorce but Zahid used to beat her, Salma, the victim’s neighbour, told.
