HYDERABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for NA-220 in Umerkot, Neelam Walji, hopes to build a strong following of the party in the region by working for the welfare of people and empowering them.
Speaking to Daily Times, Neelam said that she will put an end to poverty and hunger in Umerkot if the people of the region elect her and PML-N to power. She added that the people of Umerkot must be made aware of the corrupt political figures so they vote for the right person in the coming elections.
The PML-N hopeful added that visitors in Umerkot have to face decaying and deteriorating conditions of roads leading to all four talukas. She added that health, education and other civic issues have the same fate as the entire province has been witnessing and that was the only reason behind to participate in election and to stand for the underprivileged.
Neelam stressed that PML-N’s main opponent in Umerkot wasPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was no competition at all since the people will reject the party for being the reason behind all troubles. She also vowed to transform lives of the underprivileged if she is given a chance.
Daily Times has learnt that it is the first time in the history of Umerkot district that a female from the minority community is going to contest the election for national assembly.
The people of Umerkot, however, were not pleased with PML-N as they believe the party has ignored Sindh and exerted all its energy and resources in Punjab.
