KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Farooq Sattar on Sunday threatened to surround CM house and protest if the issue of prolonged load-shedding is not resolved within 72-hours.
“I am giving the provincial and federal government a 72-hour deadline to put an end to the ongoing load-shedding. After the given time, we will surrounded the CM house and K-Electric office and protest against the negligence,” Sattar said while speaking to the demonstrators outside the press club.
The MQM-P convener, accompanied by party supporters, on Sunday protested outside the press club in Karachi against prolonged and unannounced load-shedding in the city.
Continuing his address, Sattar said that “we have gathered here today to protest against persistent load-shedding and against the animosity leaders hold towards Karachi.”
Referring to Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Karachi and his promises to “turn Karachi into New York” if PML-N gets elected to power in Sindh, the MQM-P head questioned that “Does Shehbaz think the people of Karachi would trust his words?”
He continued that as long as the demonstrators do not produce enough “current” in their protests, the leaders would not fulfill the demands. He also demanded that the authority of the water and electricity departments in the city should be handed over to the people of Karachi.
