Opposition leader in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah Tuesday said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) doors were open to all political parties, including that of Nawaz, for negotiations.
“We want to take everyone forward together,” he said while speaking to a private television channel. Shah said that he had informed the government that the name of the caretaker prime minister should be finalised by May 15. “Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and I will collectively make the decision pertaining to caretaker PM,” he added.
He went on to say that he was holding discussions with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He said that he had heard about the nominations put forward by PTI through the media. “What’s the point of meeting them now? Although I am shocked at the names announced by them,” he added. The opposition leader said that there should be no restriction on the freedom of expression. If freedom of expression is curbed in a democratic state, then what difference will there be between democracy and dictatorship, he asked.
