ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has directed authorities concerned to augment content for children in programmes being aired on all PTV channels.
Chairing a consultative meeting on the launch of a children entertainment channel here on Wednesday, she asked PTV to submit a detailed and comprehensive time-wise plan in this regard.
The minister said that a separate children entertainment channel was the need of the hour, as no work had been done for children entertainment and boosting the broadcasting industry.
She said that indigenous content was quite imperative to connect future generations with their culture and heritage. “Our children need such a content that could educate them and build their character by inculcating in them the characteristics of goodness and modesty.
Marriyum directed the PTV management to utilise all possible resources to produce quality content for children to make them aware about cultural and religious values of the society.
The meeting also deliberated upon various fast-track options for the launch of a dedicated children entertainment channel. The meeting was attended by information secretary and other senior officials from the ministry and the PTV.
