LAHORE: It took newly appointed Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) Principal Prof Rashid Zia no time to set his priorities for structural reforms at the college after assuming the charge of his office on Sunday.
Prof Rashid Zia emphasised the need of absolute cleanliness and sanitation, foolproof security arrangements, punctuality and availability of staff, medicines and biomedical equipment. “We are firmly committed to ensuring prompt as well as quality patient care in a safe and patient friendly environment”.
The principal said that automation of the Jinnah Hospital would be carried out with the support of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
He expressed his serious commitment regarding enforcement of standard operating procedures. He said that students would be provided proper educational as well as recreational facilities.
Meanwhile, nurses of the Lahore General Hospital, who got two-month training from Turkey, have resumed their duties.
During a meeting with the LGH principal, medical superintendent and deputy chief nursing superintendent, the foreign trained nurses said that the Turk government accorded them with special protocol and best hospitality during their stay in Turkey.
They said that they were imparted modern training in the fields of paediatrics ICU, operation theatres, emergency situation, ward management and other nursing skills.
They said that the authorities of Turkish Health Department awarded them commendatory certificates in recognition of their talent and hard work. They said that high level of professional training would definitely improve their professional standard of healthcare delivery and timely provision of services to ailing humanity.
