KARACHI: Under the banner of Abilities Expo, the Sindh government and Karachi Vocational Training Centre for the Intellectually Challenged (KVTC) created a go-to resource fair for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The expo was attended by over 45,000 people from all walks of life; from PWDs from all over Sindh, to some who made their way to Karachi from Punjab and KP, and other members of the general public.
The event was inaugurated by Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah. During his speech, he emphasized the need for an event that promotes inclusion in the society and shows the world the other, better side of Pakistan.
Zulfiqar Shallwani, Secretary of the Special Education Department of Sindh stated, “The department intends to organize such events for the betterment of special people and their families with a view to highlight the achievements and aspirations in the future also as we believe an emphasis on the institutional care of the helpless and needy makes the government-people bond.” The support, enthusiasm, and selfless passion that everyone put behind their participation in this unique event was the reason for the success of the Abilities Expo. The event was attended by noticeable members of society, members of the Pakistan Air Force, the Heads of International Missions from Turkey, Switzerland, the UAE, and Malaysia.
