WASHINGTON: White House spokesman Josh Earnest has noted that the relationship between Pakistan and the US is “quite complicated”, becoming more so after the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.
In a media briefing, he said US relations with Pakistan, particularly on national security, could not remain persistently smooth over the past eight years. Responding to a question, he said, “Once, President Obama had expressed his wish to visit Pakistan, however, due to some reasons he could not visit there.”
The spokesman said he could not give any response to the accuracy and tone of the conversation between US President-elect Donald Trump and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He added that Trump’s team would be contacted for clarification in this regard.
