KARACHI: Federal ombudsman’s advisor said on Friday that the K-Electric has ignored the citizens’ protest against overbilling, as citizens are still being sent bills on approximation without meter reading.
Advisor Muhammad Yameen, during the hearing of applications against KE’s overbilling at the Malir commissioner’s camp office, said that quick action was taken on the applications received so the complainants could be provided with relief.
Yameen said that the applications regarding the government and semi-government departments are heard at the Federal Ombudsman Court, which not only seeks reports but also calls the department executives at hearings, and the issues are solved by mutual understanding.
Applicant Riyaz Shah told the court that he was a poor man, served at a medical store, lived in a one-room house but was a target of extensive billing. The Judge of Ombudsman Court upended excess billing in consultation with KE Executive Waqas Ahmed and provided quick justice to the aggrieved.
Applicant Syed Nadeem Hussain’s daughter appeared in the court and told that her father was a retired employee and her brother was jobless. There was no source of earning making it difficult for the family to pay KE’soverbilling.
Rejecting the KE’s report alleging power theft, Yameen overturned the excess billing and provided relief to the aggrieved.
