National Accountability Bureau on Wednesday denied media reports claiming that NAB has given Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz clean chit in the ongoing probe of alleged misuse of authority and corruption charges. Clarifying media reports, a NAB spokesman said that the probe against the Mayor of Islamabad is under process as per law. The NAB has tightened noose around Ansar Aziz in alleged corruption investigations and has seized all record of Directorate of Municipal Administration. According to complaint to NAB, Ansar Aziz, as mayor of Islamabad, caused loss of billions of rupees to Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) as only stopping auction of cattle market in 2019 caused a loss of Rs 90 million to the corporation. Sources claimed that the mobile companies have not paid taxes on the towers erected on the land of the MCI for many years, causing loss of billions of rupees to the government annually.
