Two weeks after the country’s lockdown was lifted, the Punjab government decided to allow hotels, restaurants, and cinemas to open across the province after Eid.
Sources in the Interior Ministry said that restaurants and hotels that already offer takeaway services currently with government-defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will open after Eid.
Previously, on the 9th of May the government began lifting the weeks-long lockdown that was put in to control the spread of the COVID-19 and opened up the different sectors. The government released SOPs and safety protocols for the businesses in order to curb the spread of the virus.
The apex court had earlier this week given the directives to the government to open all the shopping malls across the nation.
Gulzar Ahmed, the CJP remarked that people will die of hunger even if they manage to live through the coronavirus if the business activities are not resumed in the country.
It is to be mentioned here that Pakistan confirmed 50 more deaths from novel coronavirus in one day as the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 1,067 and positive cases surged to 50,694.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 2,603 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.
Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 445,987 coronavirus tests and 16,387 in last 24 hours. 14,155 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition.
