As many as 11,130 rescuers have been placed on high alert during holidays of the holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure prompt response to the Covid-19 and other emergencies in Punjab. In this regard, Director General Punjab Emergency Service, Dr Rizwan Naseer reviewed the emergency arrangements through a video link meeting with all District Emergency Officers (DEOs) held at Rescue Headquarters on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by all Heads of Wing of Rescue Headquarters and Academy. The District Emergency Officers briefed the DG Rescue Punjab that Emergency plans for Eid-ul-Fitr including plans to deal with Covid-19 during Eid holidays have been finalized of their respective districts in consultation with respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs). The Head of Provincial Monitoring Cell briefed the DG Rescue Punjab that around 11,130 rescuers shall be deployed at strategic sites during Eid holidays in order to ensure prompt response to emergencies, disasters, whereas specialized Rescue Teams are also deputed to timely response to Covid-19 emergencies. It was further briefed that 11,130 rescuers shall perform Eid duties in three shifts at 650 key points established across Punjab including 250 key points of emergency vehicles and 400 of Motorbike Ambulances. In this connection, Emergency Response and Management Plans have been chalked out by all District Emergency Officers in consultation of all stakeholders in District Emergency Board Meetings for effective & efficient management of any untoward incident during Eid holidays. The special Mobile Rescue posts shall provide optimum Emergency Cover at Major Eid Prayer Venues. The Provincial Monitoring Cell and Patient Transfer Services Cell at Rescue Headquarters shall remain operational round-the-clock to ensure effectively implementation of District Emergency Plans. Dr Rizwan Naseer directed that close coordination must be maintained with Districts/ Tehsils Headquarters Hospitals for better management of victims of emergencies.
