An army training aircraft Mushshak crashed on Monday morning during its routine training mission near Gujrat.
Two soldiers of Pakistan Army, including a major and a lieutenant, embraced martyrdom, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. “Both pilots Major Umer (Instructor Pilot), a resident of Gujrat, and Lieutenant Faizan (Student Pilot), a resident of Kalar Kahar, Chakwal, embraced Shahadat,” the ISPR said. Major Umer is survived by a wife, the statement added.
President Dr Arif Alvi paid tribute to the two pilots of Pakistan Army who embraced martyrdom in the aircraft crash. “The President expressed deep grief over the incident and paid tribute to Major Umer and Lieutenant Faizan on their martyrdom,” a President House statement here said. President Alvi also prayed for the souls of martyrs and for grant of fortitude to the bereaved families. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also expressed grief over the death of the pilots in the crash. The foreign minister prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace and for grant of fortitude to the bereaved families. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan has expressed grief over the tragic air crash of Army Aviation Mushshak trainer aircraft. The air chief prayed for the eternal bliss of the martyred souls, who embraced Shahdat in the line of duty, a Pakistan Air Force press release said. He also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
