The Ministry of Finance secretary has invited the protesting leaders of All Pakistan Audit and Accounts Combined Association for negotiations.
The pen-down strike by the association against the discriminatory distribution of salaries and other incentives of federal and provincial employees entered the 10th day on Tuesday. Association Chairman Anwar Shah reiterated the resolve that the peaceful protest and strike will continue till the fulfillment of their demands.
“Secretary Finance has called us in his office for talks. In the meeting, we will table the demands and urge early resolution of our problems on behalf of All Pakistan Audit and Accounts Combined Association,” he said, adding that they will not call off strike until their genuine demands are fully met. He clearly stated that the accounts department of the AGPR will remain closed until their demands are met.
The employees demand an increase in salary equivalent to the proposed increments for the employees of Federal Secretariat. In addition to this, they have also asked for a grant of 20 per cent special allowance at par with Federal Secretariat employees which was granted to them in 2013. Moreover, they have also asked for the grant of seat for promotion from the quota pending with the controller general of the accounts office for the past couple of months.
