ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said that today’s Supreme Court order in the Army chief’s extension case was a ‘great disappointment’ for mafias within and external enemies.
In a tweet after the SC order, the prime minister hit back at his rivals, who he said were waiting for clash of institutions.
For the record, 23 yrs ago we were the first Party to advocate an independent Judiciary and Rule of Law. In 2007, PTI was in the forefront of the Movement for Independence of the Judiciary & I was jailed for it.

Today must be a great disappointment to those who expected the country to be destabilised by a clash of institutions. That this did not happen must be of special disappointment to our external enemies & mafias within –

The three-judge bench headed by Justice Khosa announced the short order and ruled that General Bajwa will serve as the army chief for six more months based on the undertaking submitted by the government.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also commend Chief Justice Khosa as one of the ‘greatest jurists’ of Pakistan, adding a reminder that he had fought for an independent judiciary all his political life and was even jailed for it.
