Two young boys were abducted from the city’s Manga Mandi area, police confirmed, saying they had registered a first information report (FIR) regarding the kidnapping and commenced a search for the children.
The incident of abduction of two young boys was reported by the police who were disappeared from Manga Mandi, a densely populated area in the outskirts of Lahore. Notably, a first information report (FIR) regarding the kidnapping of the children was registered by the police on the request of children’s parents.
On the other hand, the abducted boys’ families have complained that police have failed to find a clue or any information pertaining to their missing children in the four days since they were kidnapped. They have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to take notice of the incident.
Moreover, at least 93 incidents of kidnapping for ransom and cases of missing children were reported from various parts of the city in the last four months, however the city police has failed to submit challans in a majority of cases despite its claim of recovering several missing and kidnapped children.
The incidents occurred despite claims by police that it had arrested over 20 suspects linked with kidnapping gangs.
A wave of anxiety has gripped the region following the kidnapping of 600 children from Lahore and other parts of Punjab within a short span of time.
The Supreme Court (SC) is currently hearing a suo motu case with regard to a surge in incidents of child kidnapping the province.
