A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Roots Millennium Education and Islamabad Capital Territory Police to encourage building positive, strategic and active relationship between the two organisations and guide the students towards inclusive education, according to a press release issued by the organisation.
Both the organisations agreed to enhance cooperation in many areas, including arranging self-defense workshops for Millennials, drug awareness campaigns, solidarity walks for Kashmiris, internships, road safety orientations and working with the police in social awareness and community service programmes. Under the MoU, the Roots Millennium Education will give discounts to the children of ICTP members, especially to the children of ICTP martyrs.
Islamabad Inspector General of Police Aamir Zulfiqar Khan has envisioned a new concept for police engagement with community, youth and citizenry, and to scale up the community policing outreach, a national slogan under the hashtag #Polizens was also launched. RME CEO Faisal Mushtaq explained to the participants that ‘Polizens’ is a unique concept and means as to how police can help build and promote a responsible and inclusive citizenry. He called the initiative by ICT police chief as a game changer for social and community mobilisation. He also underlined his vision of long-term involvement of Millennials in becoming more successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. He said the Roots Millennium Education has gained national recognition for taking beyond the classroom learning initiatives.
DIG Islamabad Waqaruddin Syed, SSP Traffic Farrukh Rasheed, SP Summera, SP HQ Amir Khan Niazi and SSP Security Dr Naveed Atif were also present on the occasion.
