The Senate, on Monday, unanimously passed a resolution condemning the threats, war hysteria and a frivolous propaganda campaign fueled by New Delhi against Pakistan, in the face of the attack in Pulwama in India-held Kashmir.
The resolution, moved by Opposition Leader, Raja Mohammad Zafar-ul-Haq, acknowledged and supported the government for its offer of assistance to India in the investigation and assurance of taking action on actionable intelligence. It further urged the government to effectively coordinate with the international community to raise voice against the human rights violations at all global forums and seek a final resolution to the Kashmir dispute in light of the UN resolutions.
The Senators reiterated that while Pakistan had offered help, no one should underestimate its ability as well as commitment to defend its borders against any external aggression. They also reaffirmed the UN observations that mentioned how grave human rights violations were taking place in the occupied valley. The resolution also deplored the never-ending, state-sponsored violence against Kashmiris at the hands of Indian security forces. Their constant battle with disappearances, stage encounters, rapes, live ammunition, and pellet guns was also sighed at. The House further condemned the rise in atrocities faced by Kashmiri students in various parts of India.
The resolution appreciated the members of the British Parliament for taking note of the violations of human rights in Indian-held Kashmir and urging the international community to play its due role in putting an end to this travesty of basic human dignity. The resolution also mentioned that India had failed to suppress the indigenous freedom movement of the people of Kashmir against its occupation. agencies
