Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) plans to field women candidates on general seats in the next local bodies elections.
Punjab Assembly Member and PTI Women Wing President Farah Agha claimed that she had recommended names of over 16 female workers for committees, including that of human rights, social welfare, peace, among others of Rawalpindi. In a similar manner, active workers were said to also be obliged in a union council committee.
To a query, she said that PTI believed in gender equality and women workers would be given opportunities to use their capabilities for societal welfare.
“We will also field women candidates on general seats even for the chairman and vice chairman post from Rawalpindi and its tehsils in the upcoming local bodies’ election,” she maintained.
The legislator also announced her design to resign from her presidency of Women Wing, saying it seemed unfair to serve on multiple positions and other members should also be given opportunities.
She championed women education as vital for national progress.
