Far-right Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) called off its long march on reaching Islamabad late on Thursday night after the cancellation of the blasphemous caricatures’ contest.
The long march had against the blasphemous caricatures had reached Islamabad after a 36-hour journey on the Grand Trunk Road. It started at Data Darbar in Lahore on Friday afternoon. Several caravans of TLP joined the main march led by Khadim Hussain Rizvi, the cleric who leads the party and is known for his hateful speeches.
Earlier on Friday, a delegation comprising the federal religious minister and the Punjab law minister held talks with the TLP leadership but they remained adamant that the march would proceed until either the Dutch ambassador was expelled or blasphemous caricatures contest was called off.
