ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday said that they will begin voter registration process for the Pakistani’s living abroad from September 1 for upcoming by-elections in the country.
According to ECP, the voter registration will continue till September 15.
The facility will be only provided to those whose votes fall within the 37 constituencies where upcoming by-polls are expected to be held in October.
Moreover, only those pakistanis will be able to register themselves if they have a machine readable passport (MRP) and a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
In this regard, awareness campaigns will be organized by the Foreign Office (FO) and NADRA with the help of embassies.
Preivously, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar gave orders to allow overseas Pakistanis to participate in the upcoming by-elections on August 17.
