LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered on Friday to release the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) leader and workers by 2 pm today.
Justice Anwarul Haq heard the PML-N petition today against the arrests of PML-N workers and leaders.
The court inquired provincial home secretary and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Syed Kaleem Imam and asked if they had list of people.
To this, the home secretary responded that 141 individuals had been arrested.
The judge observed, “Any actions that disturb the system should not be taken,” and ordered to release all of them by 2 pm.
Earlier this week, PML-N leaders and workers were illegally detained by the law enforcement agencies and later a protest was staged outside the police office for the release of them.
The party president Shehbaz Sharif had slammed the interim government for the act and remarked that at least 400 workers have been detained.
He had termed it as “naked pre-poll rigging.”
