TANK: The political administration is all set to restore mobile phone services in South Waziristan’s Wana area after 10 years.
The decision to restore mobile services was taken after a meeting with government institutions.
Sources in the political administration stated, “Within the next 10 to 12 days, cellular services will be restored in the area”.
Tribal representatives are demanding cellular services be restored in other areas as well.
Tribal elders lamented that they could not contact their loved ones in other parts of the agency.
The Pakistan Army launched a military operation, Operation Rah-e-Nijat, against militants in South Waziristan Agency on June 19, 2009. Mobile phone services had been suspended since then on the basis of security threats.
