ISLAMABAD: Waseem Nazir from Pakistan was elected as the vice president of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID). According to a press release issued on Thursday, Nazir got the vice presidency of ICID at a meeting held at Thailand in November 2016.
The Pakistan National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (PANCID) at a meeting held recently congratulated Waseem Nazir for his election as the vice president.
Participants of the meeting also discussed how activities of PANCID could be revitalised to meet the future challenges in the field of irrigation and flood management.
The ICID exists in more than hundred countries, and through its network of connected professionals, has facilitated the sharing and transfer of experiences and technology regarding water management for over half a century.
The ICID supports capacity development, research stimulation and innovation and aspires to support and promote policies and programmes to enhance sustainable development of irrigated agriculture through a comprehensive water management framework.
