LAHORE: The city and its surrounding areas were blanketed by dense fog once again. Due to the fog, flight operations at the Allama Iqbal International Airport were delayed and flights coming to Lahore were diverted to Islamabad and Karachi, causing inconvenience to many passengers.
The visibility at several portions of the motorway reduced to zero due to which these sections were closed. Traffic came to a stop at the sections from Lahore to Sheikhupura and Pindi Bhattian, and Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad and Gojra.
Moreover, power feeders tripped in numerous parts of the city. The lack of power along with the harsh weather conditions further reduced the visibility.
The haze thickened and dewfall occurred in Lahore and its surrounding areas at night. At its densest, the fog reduced visibility to just a few feet.
The roads and streets of the city subsequently became silent, with very few people seen out and about.
Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Riaz has said that due to the dry spell, the fog would continue to prevail further.
Motorway police has directed daily commuters to use their fog lights while driving and tp avoid travelling if unnecessary.
