During a video link meeting, chaired by provincial Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal, supply and availability situation of flour in the province was reviewed at length.
Chief Secretary Punjab and all the divisional Commissioners and DCs of the districts attended the meeting. Minister categorically stated that artificial shortage of wheat flour and over pricing would not be tolerated at any cost and abundant supply at fixed rate must be ensured by the deputy commissioners and field officers. He said that Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, while taking notice of news regarding artificial shortage of Atta and its sale at exorbitant rates by some flour mills, had ordered a massive crackdown against such elements and had directed immediate and result-oriented action in this regard.
The Minister warned of strict action against the concerned officers for not giving top priority to the flour situation in their respective areas and urged the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to monitor the situation very closely and take immediate action where needed to ensure smooth and abundant supply of flour in all cities of the province. Briefing the Minister regarding flour situation, Commissioner said that divisional and district administration is taking solid steps for provision of flour to the citizens at fixed prices and for the purposes many trucking points and fair price shops have also been set up at different areas and in front of flour mills.
