Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances Chairman Justice (r) Javed lqbal presided over a meeting on Wednesday to review progress on cases of alleged enforced disappearances pertaining to Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
The meeting, amongst others, was attended by Islamabad IGP, senior officers from office of chief commissioner and intelligence agencies. All 49 cases pertaining to ICT under investigation in the commission at present were discussed. It was found that consequent to the directions recently issued by the commission, the joint investigation team as well as ICT Task Force have finalized findings in more than 30 cases, which will now be taken up by the commission in regular hearings.
It was intimated that one of the missing persons namely Abdul Qudoos s/o Muhammad Qasim has returned home. The chairman emphasized upon the participants of the meeting to pay special attention to all cases under investigation so that those are resolved positively in the least possible time. The participants of the meeting assured the chair that all possible efforts will be put in place to resolve these cases.
The next hearings to review the cases of ICT are likely to be held in the first week of November.
