Abbottabad Deputy Commissioner Amer Afaq and Abbottabad District Police Officer Javed Iqbal Wazir held an open court in GPS Termuthian on Thursday with the aim to resolve issues of the people at their doorstep.
The ‘Khuli Kutchery’ was attended among others by a large number of citizens, particularly residents of Birote and vicinities while on this occasion, district head of provincial government departments including Education, Health, C&W, PHED, Agriculture and police officers concerned were also present.
The people apprised the deputy commissioner regarding poor health and sanitation condition, accumulated sewages in roads and streets, insufficient health facilities, shabby condition of roads and paths, non-supply of water, increase prices in essential commodities and absence of officers, officials and staff in government schools, health units and other offices to resolve their issues.
He asked the district authorities to resolve the issues faced by the public on a priority basis, warning that all those found negligent in their duties will be proceeded against as per law. He assured the public that the government will address health, education and civic issues faced by people in the district.
The deputy commissioner particularly directed the authorities to keep a vigilant eye over Patwar Khanas to facilitate the people. He directed that action against encroachments and price hike should continue in the district. Afaq said he would extend all-out support to district authorities and himself monitor the performance. He assured the residents that remaining work of Hotrol Bridge to BHU Mohra road will be completed within current financial year and it will be starting soon.
Khalid Abbas Abbasi, a political figure demanded of the authorities to take action against encroachments on paths and roads and he also demanded that police may be asked not to register fake cases against the notables on the behalf of notorious people. DC and DPO assured that both the matters will be addressed on priority basis.
“We, the district administration, are here to serve you and solve your problems and we are doing our utmost to come up to your expectations and need your cooperation in this regard,” said DC.
No complaints were presented by those in attendance about police behavior except a complaint related to the non-registration of FIR which was resubmitted by the complainant to DPO as action were not taken upon previous complaints by the SHO concerned after number of directions issued to them by the higher ups. Furthermore people complained that the drug peddlers were set free from the courts soon after their arrest which emboldened them to carry on the business. The other complaints presented by them included shortage of police strength and need of proper vehicle for the police.
“The police department is committed towards maintaining peace in the district and we will protect the lives and the property of citizens at all costs”. DPO Javed Iqbal said. He took stern action upon the complaint filed for non-registration of FIR and on the spot directions were issued to the SHO concerned to resolve the grievance of the complainant otherwise he will be proceeded for strict disciplinary action according to law.
On the occasion, the DPO said that the police department is the servant of the masses. “It is fully prepared to provide security to the people. The aim of the open courts is to provide the people with justice and to create a strong liaison between people and police,” he added.
The DPO said the action would be taken against anti-social elements and criminals. He also asked the people to take advantage of the forum of Dispute Resolution Council to resolve issues before going to courts to save their hard-earned money and precious time.
