The dispute between the butchers and veterinary doctor in Naundero has not yet been resolved despite passage of 16 days due to which the citizens have been deprived of meat forced to travel to Larkana. The butchers including Tufail Kasai, Dilshad Mirani, Mushtaque Supro, Nadim Supro, Ahmed Ali Khokhar and others are constantly protesting against the highhandedness of veterinary doctor Gul Bahar Narejo but his department has taken no notice of this serious and crucial issue.
On Sunday, the butchers addressed a press conference at Benazir Bhutto Press Club in Naundero where they said that PPP leaders held a jirga at Bhutto House in which Narejo was found involved on corruption, guilty of misuse of powers and he was instructed by the leaders not to repeat such things in future but even then he did not obey that decision because of his influence at the highest level who are supporting him unlawfully. They said that he is posted here since past ten years which too is against prevailing rules. They said we are slaughtering and selling meat since past 50 years but there is no complaint against us because we use healthy animals.
They alleged that veterinary doctor is forcing us to sell meat to his relatives at Rs: 250 per kg whereas they are selling to general public at Rs 350. They further alleged that he is also demanding money before clearing an animal and arrives late in the morning due to which animals were slaughtered very late. They alleged that now veterinary doctor has brought his own henchmen butchers who are selling meat openly but we are being issued threats by him. They said we are all very old citizens of Naundero but it is irony and heart-breaking that no body has so far taken notice of the issue as if citizens of Naundero have become orphans after the assassination Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. They appealed of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, Larkana, to intervene and resolve the issue forthwith and get him transferred out of Larkana district or else they will continue their protest for seeking their just rights.
