Pakistan Rangers Sindh has arrested eight accused including a man involved in theft of computerized national identity cards (CNICs) from a National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) centre in Landhi area of Karachi on Thursday.
Rangers team raided in Landhi’s area and arrested accused Waleed Hussain, who stole CNICs from the Nadra Center Landhi, Rangers also recovered 803 National Identity Cards including forms and Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) during the raid.
According to Rangers spokesman, accused Waleed Hussain during the investigation confessed stealing the CNICs from NADRA office.
At least 1,800 CNICs were stolen from the NADRA office in Landhi ahead of the by-polls in PS-94 Korangi, reported on Wednesday.
According to the police officials, the suspects broke into the NADRA office premises late on Tuesday and stole the CNICs.
In other hands, Pakistan Rangers Sindh has also arrested seven accused and recovered illegal weapons, ammunition, drugs and snatched goods.
According to Rangers statement, Rangers team raid in Azizabad and arrested two accused Ali Nafis Saddique alias mechanic and Faizan, who were involved in many extortion cases, and arrested accused Furqan Hussain alias Khurrum involved in dacoity and street crimes.
Four drug peddlers were also caught in custody, Muhammad Sarfaraz, Muhammad Faizan, Muhammad Rizwan and Mehran Ahmed from Gulbihar and Liaqatabad area of Karachi.
The accused have been handed over to police for legal proceedings.
