KARACHI: The Sindh government is taking all steps to promote culture, Sindh Information, Labour and Transport Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said on Sunday.
He was addressing the opening ceremony of a three-day visual arts ‘Baad-e- Saba’ exhibition at Clifton Karachi. The event had been organised by the Sindh Culture Department in collaboration with the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, (MUET) Jamshoro.
Sindh Culture Minister Syed Sardar Shah, MUET Vice Chancellor Dr Aslam Uqaili and Culture DG Khalid Chachar was also present on the occasion.
Shah appreciated the efforts of the Culture Department and MUET for organising the exhibition that feature the work of 160 artists from Sindh. He lauded the steps of Sindh Art Gallery and Art Museum.
“PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is focusing on the promotion of culture at every level. Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah is following the policy of the PPP leadership and wants to promote the culture and allied activities at grass roots level for the development and progress of Sindh,” he said.
“All out efforts are being taken for the welfare and well-being of artists for further promotion and projection of cultural activities at local as well as international level. The Culture Department is doing a lot for the artists,” he said.
Sindh Culture Minister Syed Sardar Shah announced the establishment of the Art Gallery and Art Museum in Karachi. “The visual arts have been ignored so far. We are now focusing on such projects. Before the end of the financial year, such exhibitions and events are being held and they will further promote,” he said.
He said that the government was taking all steps to help the artists. “In the shortest possible time, we have been able to hold such events in collaboration with MUET,” he said.
