KARACHI: The doctors and paramedical staff of Karachi’s Sindh Government Children Hospital staged a protest and boycotted the OPD against a non-governmental organisation (NGO) for delays in increase in their salaries.
The score of patients visiting the Outpatient Department (OPD) of the Hospital were denied healthcare services on Saturday, as the doctors and staff boycotted their duties, demanding increase of their salaries. The OPD services of Sindh children hospital remained suspended for hours.
The hospital sources told PPI that the boycott call was given by the doctors and paramedical staff against a non-governmental organisation for delaying the increase in their salaries. However, the emergency department of hospital remained functional during doctors’ protest.
The boycott of doctors caused great inconvenience to the visiting patients, especially those who came from the far-off areas. They returned home without their check-ups and diagnostic tests.Medical Superintendent, Sindh Government Children Hospital, Dr Asif Zaman was not available for comment.
