An accountability court (AC) has adjourned the hearing of money laundering and assets beyond known sources of income cases against Shehbaz Sharif, his family members and others till October 13.
Adman judge Jawad ul Hassan of Accountability Court took up the reference for hearing Monday.
Under the court’s orders, Shehbaz Sharif who is in NAB custody on physical remand was presented in the court on Monday.
Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz was also presented in the court from jail on expiry of his judicial remand. The other co-accused also appeared in the court.
The counsel for Rabia Imran, daughter of Shehbaz Sharif requested the court for not issuing non -bailable arrest warrants taking the plea that his client will appear in the trial.
The court remarked the arrest warrants will be cancelled when she appears.
The court directed that legal and just facilities should be provided to Shehbaz Sharif.
The court while extending judicial remand of Hamza Shahbaz till next hearing adjourned the hearing of the case till October 13.
Meanwhile, mega money laundering case against Altaf Hussain and others under the hearing of the Anti-Terrorism Court’s Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan has been adjourned without any proceeding.
During the hearing, the court was informed that a petition with reference to this case is being heard in the Sindh High Court.
On which the court without any proceeding adjourned the hearing till October 20.
Also, an accountability court on Monday adjourned hearing of assets beyond means reference against People’s Party leader Syed Khursheed Shah till Oct 12.
The court had to frame charges against Khursheed Shah and other accused of the case in Monday’s hearing but the matter put off until the next hearing.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed assets beyond means reference of Rs 1.23 billion against Syed Khursheed Shah and 17 co-accused.
Talking to media Syed Khursheed Shah said that the national economy has been in bad shape. The government should take steps to control price hike and ensure supply of electricity and natural gas on cheaper price, he said.
“The government is following an old trick in which everyone had been labelled and issued certificates of traitor,” Shah said. “The trend was started from Fatima Jinnah, as she was also branded with the same label,” PPP leader claimed.
“When they fail to resolve issues, they start these things,” Khursheed Shah further said.
PPP leader said that the People’s Party has given its blood for the democratic system, “The people are real heirs of this country, all of us are their servants,” he said.
“We should not move towards fighting, we have to save Pakistan,” he said. “The opposition and the government should sit on table (over the issues),” he added.
Meanwhile, an accountability court here on Monday sent Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s close aide Moosa Khan to jail on judicial remand. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced him before the court on expiry of his remand and informed that the corruption watchdog has completed its investigation against him, due to which his custody is not needed further.
The court sent the accused to jail on judicial remand until the next hearing. It is noteworthy that the Peshawar High Court is expected to take up his bail on October 7.
The national graft buster had arrested Moosa Khan on September 23 on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to sources of his income. He is a former DFO and his eldest son Tariq Baloch is Fazl’s personal secretary.
It is pertinent to mention here that the corruption watchdog is also investigating the JUI-F chief in an assets beyond means case.
On September 29, the bureau had said that the inquiry against Maulana Fazlur Rehman is continuing in NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He could be summoned to give his view on the ongoing inquiry against him, it said.
The NAB, however, did not give any date for his summoning saying the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman could be summoned as per law to give an explanation.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) also detained two officers of the local bodies ministry in Sindh over alleged charges of corruption. According to NAB on Monday, the NAB team raided in Clifton area late-night and arrested two officers of the Sindh local bodies ministry named Rahmatullah Shaikh and Manzoor Abbasi.
Both are accused of forging millions of rupees by paying to ghost companies through fake bills.
Sources said that Rahmatullah Shaikh remained the focal person of Sindh ministers Saeed Ghani and Nasir Shah and was removed from his post by CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah in recent past.
Meanwhile, it was learned that another officer Manzoor Abbasi made a plea bargain in a corruption case and already facing an inquiry into his assets.
