A foreign services officer in Pakistan, who was posted in Ukraine, has been sacked after he was found guilty of sexually harassing a local worker.
Waqar Ahmad, a grade 18 officer of the Foreign Services of Pakistan, was posted as First Secretary in Kiev, according to the letter of dismissal issued by the Foreign Ministry on May 5.
Ahmed reportedly sexually harassed a member of the cleaning staff at the Embassy. According to details released by the FO, Ahmed also threatened the staff member and had them dismissed from the job.
As per the law, officials posted at missions or embassies abroad have immunity of laws of host countries but if the government of Pakistan receives any complaint then the concerned ministry starts an investigation against the officials.
Sources said that a Pakistan Audit and Account Service officer had also been declared persona non grata by the Sweden government on violations of the law.
