Advisor to CM on Energy Himayatullah Khan Friday said that establishment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Power Transmission & Grid Company (KPPTGC) would strengthen economic position of the province and prove to be a source of transmitting the power to industrial sector especially on wheeling model. He said that after implementation of its owned transmission and distribution network, the province would now be able to distribute energy in efficient manner. The establishment of KPPTGC would enable the province to distribute its produced electricity either to national grid or industrial sector.
The provincial cabinet made this decision on Thursday last and in this context, Himayatullah paid a tribute to Secretary Power KP Zubair Khan and his team members including Engr Naeem Khan, CEO PEDO, and Project Director Engr Amin Khalil for their consecutive efforts for the establishment of province-owned first ever transmission and grid company. He further stated that KP has enriched abundant of energy resources wherein 30,000 MW cheap hydropower energy can be produced. At present, KP is being produced 162 MW hydropower energy of its own resources and inducting into national grid that is earning billions of rupees annually to the province, he said. In coming two years, 214MW electricity would be added further with completion of five hydropower projects, he added. He said that KPPTGC would also redress the issues being faced in poor energy distribution system.
