Ambassador of Indonesia Iwan S Amri on Friday said that the Indonesian government was keen to expand business relations with Pakistan. The ambassador expressed these views while speaking at a ceremony held to hand over Primaduta award to Pakistani leading business group. The Indonesian government gave this award to Waheed Group of Companies for their outstanding performance and building linkages between the two countries. Ambassador Amri further said, “We understand that bilateral trade trend is not up to expectations due to domestic economic pressures and overall global recession but this award shows that two sides will continue to play their constructive role in spite of temporary hurdles.” He said the Primadua award was a special award presented by the Indonesian government annually to the international buyers of Indonesian products in recognition of their contribution for playing an important role in boosting their country’s trade with Indonesia. The ambassador said that this year, Waheed Group from Pakistan received the Primadua award in the Indonesian Trade Expo. “This is well-known group in Indonesia as one of the largest and loyal customers of Indonesian palm oil products on regular basis,” he added. The ambassador later handed over award to Pakistani business group. A large number of businessmen attended the reception. Mayor of Islamabad Sheikh Anser Aziz attended the event as chief guest and distributed other awards also.
