ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson of the Pakistan Foreign Office, Dr. Muhammad Faisal, in a news conference on Thursday, stated that India was not ready to engage in dialogue with Pakistan. He said, “Pakistan and India have no other option but dialogue.”
Faisal also confirmed that the process of giving consular access to Indian spy, Kulbushan Jadhav, was already underway.
Earlier in July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) did not uphold the request for Jadhav to be released, and instead allowed India consular access to him. The decision about his sentence and conviction was left on Pakistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan told Fox News, during his visit to Washington, that Pakistan would give up its nuclear weapons if India did the same. He stated, “The idea of nuclear war is actually self-destruction.” PFO Spokesperson stated that relations between Islamabad and Washington were going to start afresh now that Prime Minister Khan had visited the US.
US President Donald Trump offered to mediate talks between Pakistan and India during PM Khan’s recent visit to the US. They also discussed the situation in Afghanistan.
