The father of nine-month-old Nashwa, who lost her life after being administered a wrong injection at Karachi’s Darul Sehat Hospital, announced on Friday that he would stage a protest if his demands were not fulfilled, which included the arrest of the owners of the hospital until Saturday (today) evening.
Addressing a press conference, he thanked the media for highlighting the issue of injustice that happened with his family, which ended up in the death of his daughter.
Detailing the demands, Qaiser said he had placed three demands before Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, which included sealing of the hospital and formation of a judicial inquiry to probe the matter.
“Only the first demand of sealing the hospital has been met, while others remain unaddressed,” he said, urging the government to arrest the owners of the hospital.
He said he would stage a protest on Sunday if action was not taken against the administration. The venue of the protest had not been finalised so far, he added.
The minor girl’s father clarified that his actions were not as a result of pressure from any political party. “Representatives of all political parties expressed solidarity with us and shared our grief on the demise of Nashwa,” he added.
He urged all those families who became victims of the hospital to submit applications so that comprehensive action could be taken.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan said that those responsible for the girl’s death should be punished, but the hospital should not be sealed.
