ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved the recommendation of reducing electricity prices by Rs1.90 per unit, and made the upcoming occasion of Eid for the people more joyous on Tuesday.
NEPRA was informed that the production cost of electricity remained Rs54 billion for the month of May, and the fall in amount was due to the decrease in oil and gas prices in the international market. The relief to the consumers will be given in the electricity bills for the month of June. Furthermore, the decision will not implement on the users of K-Electric and life line.
NEPRA Chairman Tariq Sadozai admonished Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) and asked that why the gas is being supplied to those production plants which are costly and of low capacity. He directed NEPRA to supply gas to only those plants which hold the ability of more than 50 percent production.
